Spring 2018

Spring Hike: Griffith Park Observatory - 03/24/2018

Start your Spring Break this Saturday by joining us for an afternoon hike to the Griffith Park Observatory! This is AHA's first hiking social and it will be a great way to de-stress and escape from those tiresome midterm exams. Feel free to bring your friends at our hike!

We will meet at the Greek Theater (2700 N Vermont Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90027) parking lot (FREE PARKING) along N. Vermont Canyon Rd at 11PM to take an eastern trail (Riverside Trail) to circle around to reach Dante's View, then walk to the Griffith Park Observatory from the north to hang out there.

Bring a minimum of $10 if you want to buy tickets to see the planetarium show and a map of the area for reference (http://griffithobservatory.org/about/pdf/Griffith_Park_Map.pdf

Remember to sign up in attending and sign up for carpooling arrangements if needed.

Game Night - 03/09/2018

We recently held a Game Night on Friday (March 9th, 2018) at the Honors Lounge to take a break from all those midterms and group projects. It consisted of board games, card games, refreshments, laughs, and of course.. FUN! Someone was even cool enough to bring an Xbox for playing Halo. But the highlight of the night was local engineering student, Bruno Barron, who offered to get his peers' nails done after an intense game of UNO.

If you missed this event, you'll have plenty of opportunities to relax and spend time with your friends and possibly make new ones!

 Time Management Workshop - 03/07/2018

We recently held a Time Management Workshop on March 7th at the Honors Lounge arranged with the help of Tara O'Callaghan, PIHRA's (Professionals in Human Resources Association) president as the start of AHA's connection with PIHRA for more academic workshops and presentations.

The workshop discussed techniques on how to formally set up your own schedule with an interactive activity called "What's on my plate?" and prioritize based on the three Ds (Do, Delay, Delegate) and Drop format. This workshop was a sound success as it taught us how to cope with time pressure and other activities, which is certainly more relevant for an average student surviving multiple subjects in college. Be sure to join us at one of our future workshops with PIHRA if you haven't already, as there will be many interesting topics to cover right in the Honors Lounge!
